Tint %

RE: Tint %
thanks, depending on where you go somewhere in the $300 range if you go with regular film. i paid $280 for the 7 windows but at different places I was quoted 300-350. If you go with the ceramic film your looking at 600-700 though.

thanks all for the pics and stuff...good thread. I've been doing a lot of research, trying to decide what to do with my 2011 A3 Titanium when I get it in January.
I think i've come to the conclusion that I'll put 15% around the back and 35% on the front. I live in Socal so I'll be crossing my fingers that I don't get pulled over... I'd put 50% on the front but I find it to be barely worth the money, and it wouldn't blend as well with the dark 15% on the other windows.
anyways thanks for the pics. I'll post mine when I get it.

Hello All -
I work for Solar Gard and here is my 2c. IF you tint your car with the brand name film such as Solar Gard, 3M, Madico etc. you don't need to be worry about the sun. All these films have UV block layer, so you will not feel any heat from the sun. The precentage you are talking about is the VLT (visual light transmission). It's about how much light you get through the window. You can get film with 75% VLT and 99% UV blockage and feel comfortable in the car. I have 70% on the front doors, and 15% in the rear side just for security reason (I don't want people to see my stuff on the rear seats).
Cheers<

Ha! Nice... Yeah I would go for 35% all around and 15% on the windshield, personally. It seems to be a nice combo and still lets you see in the dark okay. :P I might even go 10% on the windshield.
