San Deigo guys-- How do you like the area?
Hey guys
I'm graduating highschool in a little over a month and I need to decide where to go to school. I applied to calpoly and chico state, got rejected @ poly and accepted to chico with honors, but I really don't want to go there.
Up until recently my plan was to move to San Luis Obispo and go to Cuesta, then transfer to poly-- then I started thinking that I can go basically anywhere I want for my two years at a JC.
My girlfriend of a year and a half goes to san diego state, then she wants to transfer to either cal poly or berkeley. I'm thinking I should just move to san diego 1. for the experience of living in a big city, 2. to be at least in the same city as my girlfriend 3. for a much bigger car scene than san luis obispo.
How is the audi/euro/car scene in san diego? Is there a road course near by? Drag strip? autocross clubs? euro club cruises?
Thanks,
Kyle
ps. any other recommendations or experiences with schools in general, or what city to move to would help!

I live in San Diego and love it.
If you were planning on moving here I would reccomend SDSU.
Or if you're into the arts like cooking and such we have the ART INSTITUTE OF SAN DIEGO.
Where do you currently live?

I didn't apply to sdsu so I'd have to wait until the 09/10 school year to go there. Right now I'm checking out grossmont and mesa. I'm going to transfer into cal poly after two years anyways, so that's not a big deal to me.
I live up in Redding right now, about 2 hours north of sac.
Do you go to the san diego euro meets? some guys on AZ gave me this link: www.socaleuro.com and they do weekly euro meets with a big monthly one. Should be a nice change from the ONE other euro owner I know where I live now.

Hey, i used to live in San Diego, born and raised there... i love the city with my life, and will probably die there. the weather is like spring time year round, but our gf probably already told you that. as for the eurocar scene, check our socaleuro.com, they're pretty chill, alot of dubs and bmw's, and a good amount of Audis.
as for the roads........ like canyon roads, check our Palomar Mountain, it's a nice 3 hour drive from highway 15 all the way out to the Borrego Dessert with elevations anywhere from sea level to 7000 ft in elevation........ i used to do those runs.... we used to have a vid posted up of a run we did a year ago, but it's an old post, you'll be lucky if you even find it.
As for a drag strip, check out www.racelegal.com...... it's a drag race set up in the parking lot of Qualcomm (our football stadium) sponsored by the SD Police Dept, they also hold weekly autocross runs at the parking lot also, so check it out. if you need more info, jus pm me and i can give you lots more info.

Hey thanks a lot audinam.
The more I look at san diego the more I like it, and the less I'm liking SLO. I may be going to Grossmont then transfering to UCSD now.

That's probably perfect for me, I can always be involved with sdsu if I want some more action since my girl goes there.
I think my mind is pretty much made guys, thanks for your help.

Thanks for the invite. I'm really not looking forward to that drive, I'll be driving the A4 and my parents will probably be following me in their truck... for 12 hours... at least my girl will be going back down with me.
I'm not gonna be down there until mid august, right nowI just need to figure out my housing situation... ahh!
