Wiper module - fault and mod problems, please help
I have a 2012 Q7. I recently purchased the Ross-Tech VCDS cable/software. Once i had it, I decided I wanted to eliminate the after-wipe function as well as the rear wiper on reverse function. I can't get those two mods to stick, and I may have created a fault I can't clear.
First, info about the fault code:
00908 - Control Module for Wiper Motor
014 - Defective
Photo of the fault screen:
If I hit "Clear codes" it clears it, but it comes back within a second. My wipers are working perfectly fine as far as I can tell. Based on the date on the fault code, that happened when I was trying to modify the wiper functions. The thing is, I think I have put all those settings back to their originals, and the code persists. I made a newbie error and didn't check for fault codes before trying to modify anything, so though I am assuming I caused the fault, I do not know that for a fact.
Any ideas as to how to actually clear that fault? Sorry for the long post, but here is more info about what I was originally trying to do and what may have cause the fault.
Once I clear the fault, the next question will be how to get the after-wipe function to actually go away. I have read to go into [09 – Cent. Elect.]
[Coding - 07] -> [Dropdown] -> "x -- 8K1 955 119 -- WWS xxxx" ->
[Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 1 Bit 3 - 1= Active 0 = Disabled
The problem is I had never used VCDS and Long Coding helper before. Again, did some reading and my understanding is that the binary code is read from left to right. So Bit 3 is the 3rd from the end... Well, Bit 3 of Byte 1 is already at 0.
If I change it to "1" just as a test, then the Line 4 shown goes blank.
The code says it is accepted, but the wiper action doesn't change.
Similarly, when I make the rear wiper change it says accepted, but it doesn't stick.
Could those changes have caused the fault? I have since put it back to stock, but the fault persists and returns the second after it is cleared.
Please help!!
