I'm about to have my Left Front Upper Control Arms with BJ & Bushing replaced tomorrow. I experienced all the noises talked about in this forum. I have a 03 A4' 1.8T. I'm curious to see how it turns out. The place i'm taking my car to is a German Car repair specialist and the total estimate is $470, so hopefully the noises don't come back. !

Default Got Upper Arms Replaced

As a follow up to my original post, I just had my upper arms and associated parts replaced. Of course, the noise didn't completely go away (although it seems to have reduced). Now the shop is telling me that I have to replace the lower arms as well. Since the lower arms are the ones bearing most of the weight !!! I'm down $417 from the first repair and am looking at a similar windfall next week. Does anyone have pictures of what worn out Lower Control arms look like? Thanks.

Also, my car squeaks as well but it turned out to be a broken rear left spring.

Had the same problem before... Frequent and progressing squeaking sound in the front end when turning the wheel even when I drive on a straight road then hit a bump.. I thought it was the steering rack but as I’ve read from Audi repair that the symptoms leads to the tie rod bushings.. I was able to find the fix there.. Slitting a hole in the rubber boot and shooting lube on it.. But I guess buying a new tie rods for 70 bucks is an option too..

Default The problem was the the shock absorbers.

The problem was the the shock absorbers. (the bushes) At the top of the shock absorbers, have a bearing or bush which rotate, allowing the wheel to be steered. Thank god I found the problem, because one of the garage told me is the CV joint.

I understand that they aren't separable.

I saw a YouTube video about this a few month ago but haven't been able to find it again. They used a skinny hose like a stethoscope to pinpoint which joint is squeaking. Then they open the rubber covering and spray with lubricant.

Default Hi ...here is some info for you

Audi Allroad air suspension system consists of air bags that surround the shock absorbers instead of conventional coil springs. The adjustable Allroad air bag compression is managed by a control module and air compressor that are delivered via air lines. This type of Audi Allroad suspension set-up allows for variable suspension feel and height.
