RE: S4 got spanked....
keep it in auto till you get to second gear, then slap it into manuel.... it will get off the line faster....
but still.... a manuel trany with a good driver will beat your auto off the line almost any day
-at least you beat him in "class"

Yeah, I looked up the car after I got home to see what it had in it, then I didn't feel so bad. It was fun racing anyway, we just smiled and gave him a thumbs up, we had fun.

Is your car stock? If so you NEVER had a chance. They have almost 40hp (289hp vs 250) on you stock, & are 400lbs lighter.
Most are not kept stock long, at least around here. My EVO was stock for about a month, with a turbo back, panel filter & an ECU Flash, it's putting down 288whp on a Mustang dyno.
That's about 20hp more then my S4 with the same mods.
However the S4 has a lot more torque, and will pull the EVO over 100mph, & jump on it at any speed over 40mph. There is a little more turbo lag on the EVO, mine spikes around 25psi & settles down around 22psi. The S4 has a much more flexible power curve & is much faster at lower RPM's.
There was a Video of Top-Gear where they raced a EVO FQ-400 (special UK 400hp EVO) VS a Fiat Punto 1.6l or something like that in top or 4th gear. The EVO lost due to the race being over by the time the EVO spooled up.
