My Ford beat my Audi
So, I've been just a little disappointed in the stock performance of the 1.8T. I figured it had just a little more power from the factory. Don't get me wrong, I still love the car.
Decided to do a little test yesterday and put the A4 up against my F-350. My truck is stock with the exception of an intake and exhaust. I was driving my truck and another gear head friend of mine was in the car.
The Audi jumped off the line but the truck walked away with the 1,000 ft win every time.
It really feels like the Audi's turbo just gives up in the higher RPM range. Is this common? I have a boost gauge ordered to make sure everything is operating correctly. It's a big transition going from the diesel world to the gas world.
The one good thing is that the car is a lot cheaper to mod than the truck. That and the fact that it will corner.

he said diesel. my brother has a modded f250 power stroke and dad has a gmc duramax 2500 and those diesels make tons of hp and even more torque. i wouldn't want to take either of them on in my b5. those trucks turbos are huge and if they are modded can really race any car

Great motor. I've torn down several, they can be pricey to fix, especially if you have to replace the HUEI pump or injectors, but they make boatloads of power and are reliable if taken care of.
The 6 liter however, ugh, forget it.

Not quite sure about the Audi's turbo giving up, but at the peak of every gear and high RPM's the turbo probably reached its stock boost PSI. however your powerstroke 7.3l isnt that expensive to build up. There are plenty of them in my family and every one has a turbo upgrade, but only one has 4" turbo back exhaust/intake. the sad thing is out of all the 7.3's we have, my dads 04 6.0l powerstroke smashes on them all and his is stock. if you want to increase power on your truck buy a new turbine blade for the intake side and make it a hybrid turbo and go with a programmer.
