Chipped A3 vs Nissan Altima V6
I was on my way to see '300' at the movie theater and this new-looking navy blue Altima V6 3.5 SL was in front of me in traffic. I noticed he was doing some acceleration maneuvers off a couple of lights. Finally we got to a light where a good long slightly uphill straightaway opened up. He was 1st in line and I was behind him. He took off andI followed; bymid 2ndgear we had cleared traffic in the other lane so I slid over to the left lane and dropped the hammer. I passed him at the top of third gear with no trouble at all. I was in fifth and probably 5 carlengths ahead when I crested the hill and had to brake for a light. That kill pumped me up righteous for the testosterone-fest that is 300. I read on the Nissan website that Altima puts out 270 horsies. My Neuspeed chip gives me about 252 hp and 297 ft/lbs torque.Figure inmy exhaust and I guess I might make around 260/265.

Nice ride... looks very clean. Keep in mind the Altima weighs a lot more than you but they can hold their own. Nonetheless, nice win, I have yet to see in person what the Altima can do.

Yeah, youre right, I know it was an Altima and I shouldn't get too excited, but...
weight of A3=3329
weight of Altima 3.5SL= 3423
Altima is only 93 lbs heavier and I'm giving up 5 or 10 HP, so it should have been pretty even on paper. But I blew right by him... he had some wheels on it and a spoiler in back, so I'm sure he thought he was a badass little racer.
Your aunt prolly has the vanilla version 2.5 (4 cyl), as a guess...

I think that Altima and the Maxima share the same 3.5L engine. Funny thing is on nissanusa's site, the Maxima is rated at 255hp while the Altima is rated at 270hp. (both are 2007)

That's because the Maxima didn't get as extensive makeover as the new Altima. Reason being, there is an all-new Maxima coming in a few years, possibly RWD. Either way, the 3.5 cars are no slouch, so congrats on the kill, OP.

interesting. i raced a new (06 or 07) altima in my bone stock s4 and didn't beat him by all that much. it was a SE-R or some such thing..it had a big red R on the back, but might have been some AutoZone accessory.

The car your talking about is the Altima SE-R Spec-V, and those things are pretty damn quick. They have 265 hp, suspension mods, etc. They're noticeably quicker than regular 3.5 Altima's. I've seen 0-60 times of 5.8 for the SE-R's. Nice kill, BTW.

Coming from a previous 2005 Altima SE-R, you were racing up hill and have more torque. Need I say more? I'm a proud A4 owner now after a year of what was I thinking!
