This is the acurate info. There is no CTS-V with a V6. And it is one of these cars the OP ran into, not the upcoming 550hp model. I did a few ~30-~100mph pulls with one once in my 2001 Z06. It could almost keep up with me. Mighty fine for a luxury sedan. Driving dynamics are also supposed to be good although I have never driver one. I'd own one if I could afford it, but even the oldest ones still cost about $30k. [:@]

The new CTS-V is not out yet. The car you ran was either an LS6 car, or an LS2 car. They're both rated rated at 400hp and 395tq. That explains those 'quick bursts'......
NICE A3 btw.....

There are NO V6 CTS-V's. There's a 2.8 V6, a 3.2 V6, a 3.6 V6, and ALL CTS-V's have a V8. 04's and 05's are the 5.7 LS6. 06's and 07's are the 6.0 LS2.
If it's a V6, it's NOT a CTS-V. If it's a V8, it HAS to be a CTS-V. No exceptions....

Just wandering around the web this evening and came across your thread. Hope you don't mind me posting up. Sounds like you were having a good time but please be careful out there. The CTS's have V6's and there is a "sport" version that came with a 5 speed manual. The 1st Gen CTS-V's were '04-'05 LS6 5.7 ltr 405 HP @ FW 6 speed tremec, 3.73 independent rear (basically the completeZO6 vette drive train)The '06-'07 got the larger displacement LS2 but it was tuned stock to 405 HP, too. The STS-V (auto 6 sp) and the XLR-V (vette box)are both maggied Northstar powered. The CTS-V was discontinued (and so was Cadillac's SCCA Championship Racing Team)for '08 until the new CTS has been out for 1 year. The new car is supposed to start shipping pretty soon.http://blogs.gmhightechperformance.c...lsa/index.htmlI have to say that my V is one fun peice of American (well mostly) heavy metal. And my clients love it, too.

UPDATE:
I was coming back from 15K service with Penske Audi when I encountered the CTS-V. It now seems likely that Penske reflashed me at the servicing, thus wiping out my 'chipped' status. Nevertheless, the 'V' was an obvious speed monster, taking nothing away from it.
