2004 A4 1.8T (APR Stage 1+) vs. Lancer Evolution
need some help here......was cruising the Merritt Parkway in NY over the weekend.....nice two lane highway, lots of turns, light traffic and no cops (hardly)......I have a A4 Ultrasport with APR 93 Stage 1+ chip, plus APR exhaust, so I am running about 250 chp and about 285 ft-lbs torque.....anyway I'm doing about 70mph and I see a car coming fast behind me and as he gets close he slows down next to me....I'm debadged so he may have thought I was an S4.....as he gets next to me I see its an EVO (although I have no idea what year or version). We glance at each other and you just know its on, so I down shift into 4th and jump on it, staying with him.......shift to fifth til about 105mph, still staying with him.....shift to 6th til about 120mph, which I have about a half car lead..............then I shut it down.....big curve ahead.......
I guess my question is, was he just screwing with me.....everything I've ever heard about an EVO is that my Audi would have no chance............your thoughts????

He should've killed you in all honesty. The slowest ones made still had 271hp and weighed 3,200lbs. I have a few friends w/ Evo's, and they are no joke. One has downpipe, exhaust, and tune, and beats my other friend's 2004 S4 all day, from a roll or dig. So.... either he sucked at driving, was just messin w/ you, because he should've beat you.

+1 on just messing with you.
But, on a side note, how do all of you people manage to get exact speeds all the time? When I race, both on the street and at events, the instrument cluster is almost never looked at because I'm paying attention to the road/course. But here, everyone always seems to be able to casually look down at the speedometer without giving a second thought to "oh, I'm going 120+mph and nothing could possibly happen in front of me in the fraction of a second I'm not looking at the road." that's what I thought.......he looked young, so maybe he was gunshy on going real fast.....I don't know.
So I won't feel too good about it.
To answer your question about exact speeds, I can't speak for everyone, but I use a dash mounted GPS and set it to the trip screen which has a large speedometer on the top part of the screen. With this I never have to look down and my eyes always stay looking ahead.
Thanks for your input.

Yeah, he should have taken it easily. But take credit in out driving him. Isn't that what it's really about anyways?
Stock Evo IX's have 286 hp and 290 lb ft tq., and run facotry claimed 0-60 in 4.8 sec
Check out what simple bolt-ons can do!!

wow......I don't think I'd get there even with a K04 turbo upgrade........
Does anyone happen to know performance numbers for K04, APR tuning, large injectors (Bosche 386cc) and APR exhaust?????
