Default How to avoid the Tint tickets

So I have been into the custom world for a long time since the first days of lowrider trucks before we had the boomin systems and nice rims to choose from. I learned very early that there was a really good way to put any cop at ease when it comes to tinted windows. The trick is if you get pulled over turn on the interior lights and roll down the windows before he even gets out of his car. As he approaches your car, put your hands on the steering wheel and have everyone in the car keep their hands in view. Don't go digging in the glove box for papers because it looks like you are trying to hide something. Just wait until the officer asks you for something and then tell him you are going to look in the glove box or other places. The thing about tint is that there was a rash of shootings from people who had dark tinted window, so now the cops are skiddish when they cannot see what is going on inside the car. If you take away the unknown element, I am sure the officer will be more likely not to be a jerk about the tint.

As an LEO, I wholeheartily agree and that is GREAT advise. I do the same when I get pulled over. You put an Officer at ease when he can see everyone in the car and nobody is reaching for anything.

I just got tint in my 2010 A4 Avant. 15% for the back 5 windows and 35% for driver/passenger windows.

With the 35% you can tell someone is sitting in the seat, but not much of anything else.

I was surprised the Avant didnt come with any tint whatsoever.

Well I am passing that advice on to my son. I think now that he has a car (2001 A4 Quattro) it is time for me to get back into the custom world, starting with window tinting. I kinda figure it can be a fun hobby, and he will be able to find me plenty of customers. Might be a good skill to teach him and eventually maybe even get into tuning. There are not many places in this region tht specialize in the German sports cars, so there is a niche for me to fill. It would be a good way for me to justify all the toys I want for my 2002 A4. One question I have on exhaust, since mine is starting to get leaks from lots of rust.... Would it be a good idea to increase the pipe size from the cat to a single in dual out magnaflow muffler, then out to the traditional 2 split muflers? I know normally there is a "Y" pipe that splits to a dual resonator, but I want a good flowing muffler that won't be too loud considering I leave for my 2 hour commute at 5 am. Has anyone seen or tried this and how does it sound and/or help performance? While I do want to increase the performance, I also want to improve the MPG to cut down on the expense of 200 mile round trip daily. I am also thinking about going with the APR flash.

Well $45 is not too bad, sux, but not that bad. Did he tell you to strip it off or just write the ticket? The other question is did you do what I recommended or did he have to walk up to the dark windows?

haha. yeah 45$ is not that bad. but if u add up all the tickets i have, too muchh. they dont like me .but he dug his nail into my tint and showed me that its not stock tint. The trooper didnt know what he pulled me over for. i was pulled over for a lil longer than an hour. he dnt like my lambo doors. told me to pop my hood. all that junkk. he told me i must speed huh. i said YUP. Why have a supercharger and nitrous ? cmon . but the reason why he pulled me over for so long was , he was inspecting my car. this trooper gives inspection licenses to the gararges. so he knows everything. the whole book. then he just ticked me for tinted window. so i took the front off. every state is diffrent tho. im in northern NH.

i want to get my a4 tinted, problem is I don't want to pay a few hundred dollars and in no time have to get it removed and a ticket. ...I go back and forth on the issue whether it's worth it or not. When you get it put on professionally it obviously looks awesome, just not sure it's worth the risk.
