Default Best bang for the buck?

I have around 18k to spend on a new car and I want an audi s4. Should I go newer year without the premium package or slightly older with the premium package? Also wondering about how many miles these audi clutches and manual transmissions last? Thanks

I just bought a 2006 S4, 6 speed manual. I have plans for performance mods in the future, but even sitting stock, it's the second fastest car I've owned. I love the throttle response, the exhaust note, the look, and the fact that you can surprise quite a few people with it. The B7 (2005.5 - 2008) generation of S4's is definitely the way to go. They're built really well. Only a few things to watch out for. I had to replace my snub mount as soon as I got it. Previous owner wasn't much of a car guy. Some of the other things I've come across from research are the oil consumption, intake manifold flap, and possible timing chain issues. As far as the clutch and all that, it really is gonna depend on how you drive the car. If you slip the clutch a lot, it'll wear it out faster. There are kits out there for upgraded clutch replacements. But most of the big maintenance things need replaced around 90,000 miles. If you get a car with mileage around there, try to find out if the manufacturer maintenance has been done (timing belt, water pump, etc.). If not, try to get the price down to take some of the sting out of the cost of getting it done yourself.

Just my 2 cents.
