Default 2004 S4 vs 2005 s4 1/4 mile

ok so quick random question whats the deal with these 2 cars they're they the same thing no? i seen the 2004 rated at 13.2 1/4 mile and the 2005 13.7 1/4 mile but they are the same car if anything just 40lb curb weight difference.

is there something i dont seen ? 0_o because i think .5 is a huge difference for the same body and engine.

i just got the 2005 model 2 days ago now I'm like dam should of picked up the 2004 model lol.

the b7 s4 model line started in 2005.5. Are you sure they werent talking about that?

even if they were, i still dont see how the two differ in 1/4 time so much. in 2005.5 model years they were literally the same thing, just different body styles. it wasnt until 2006 that the b7 changed it weight distribution and diff.

Audi has always "underestimated" their official times, HP, 0-60, etc. What they do (BWM and MB as well) is under-promise, and over-deliver.

Just for reference, the MY 2004 4.2 engines has chain tensioner problems... prone to give out at any time after 100K miles. The MY 2005 and up are much more reliable. It's about a $10,000 repair at a shop, about $5-6K as a DIY. You made the right choice with the '05.

Also, maybe the rating was for an automatic tranny?

My '06 (171K on the clock) is about the same... pain in the ***, but check the oil every time you stop for fuel and add oil as necessary. Buy the Castrol Syntec in bulk when it goes on sale at auto zone or whatever store you prefer when it goes on sale. Keep a quart or two in the trunk.
