2001 S4 new fuel filter and pump - acceleration problems
Help! I am a 2001 Audi S4 owner and this car is making me crazy! The fuel pump went out last week, so I had the pump and filter replaced. Now my car doesn't have any acceleration, in fact when I press the gas it acts like it is choking! What could be my problem? The car has 161,000 miles and drove okay before replacing the fuel pump and filter. Any ideas?

Thank you for your response. My son was just driving behind me and he says when the car bogs down or won't accelerate I am spewing black smoke. He just had the CEL codes pulled for me and they are:
P1296
P1129
P1127
P0300
Any ideas would be so much appreciated.
Thank you!

-1296-engine cooling system malfunction- this could be a bad coolant sensor, low coolant or a clog in the system.
-1129/1127-running rich in banks 1 and 2- this could be a number of things. Bad egt's, boost leaks or faulty maf/ maf sensor.
-0300- Random misfires on multiple cylinders- the usual cause of this is the coil packs. could also be the spark plugs.
From here i would start with the cheapest fixes first and work my way up to the expensive stuff.
1. check coolant level and fill if needed.
2. clean out MAF with MAF cleaner.
3. change out spark plugs.
4. replace coolant sensor
5. boost leak test.
Try these things first and see if it solves anything. after this it starts to get expensive.
Check this first:
****the black smoke you are pouring out is either from running super rich or burning oil. the burning oil could be from a blown turbo. are you hearing a "dentist drill" noise coming from the engine? are you leaking oil?****
