Default Weird oil level problem

ok well i changed the oil in my car its a 2000 6spd with 131k on tuesday with 6 qurts of royal purple 5-40, yesterday i decided to change my plugs and air filter, when i took the plugs out i noticed they were covered in some oil, not all of them but 3 of them.(not burnt just coated). I checked the oil and it was reading just below the min line, so i thought maybe my rings or valves were worn and i was burning some oil all though the car never ever smokes. addded one quart and it brough the oil level to the middle of the orange part of the dipstick. this morning i decided to check my oil again and it was well over the max line, basically showing 7 quarts i believe. now my question is has this ever happened to anyone before? is there any harm in running extra oil like this, or should i drain some out? and why is it reading funny i always firmly plant the dipstick when i check
thank you

well ifyou are over and can you should really take a bit out. How are your gaskets? And are you leaking any oil anywhere? Oh and one last thing are the three on the same side? I would assume so...

lol you would think so but there not, 2 on the drivers side and one on the passenger side, and no leakson the flooror anywere under the car. i think the valve cover gasket needs to be replaced very slight oil mist around the passenger valve cover nothing significant and i was wondering if the smaller gasket inside the valve cover that seperates the plug holes could be faulty? anyone know the oil capacity for the b5 s4?
thank u

The gaskets are 2 parts, one on the outside & one on the inside, where the plugs go. So if you have oil in the plug galleys, it's the gasket. Yes, do both sides, & expect to spend about 4-6hrs doing them both.
