Default Water/Methanol Injection Kit

Well i got an AEM water/meth injection kit dropped on my lap the other day and want to install it. The only problem is i know nothing about the pros and cons of something like this. My main concern is do i need to re-tune to accomodate this mod? I know i can run leaner and boost higher, but thats about all i know. Any help would be great.

PS. What kind of power gains are to be expected?

Power gains will be similar to running race gas on your current setup, but yes youll have to get the car retuned for the w/m.

Boost wont change though

you could up the boost if you wanted... colder intake temps does allow you to run slightly higher boost levels... id say depending on how good of a tune you get id say you could get an additional 25-30 hp

The only problem with upping the boost, is the fact that K03's are already outdoing themselves with an aftermarket ecu.

The majority of the gains you will see, will be from lower IATS, which will help in general. You can run some good timing, and that will give you nice gains.

You don't necessarily have to get re-tuned, but it would be wise.

Thanks for the quick replies. Are there any preausions i should take before installing? Like other upgrades or parts i should replace. It seems like every time i install something a factory part ends up breaking and i have to either goto the dealership and pay to much or order from ecs and wait a week for replacment parts. Also are there any other kits anyone would recomend over this one?

Thanks again for the help guys.

I think hes on K04's allready, judging by the sig.

"Devils own" kits seem to be pretty popular. IMO the best way would be to get some GenX bi-pipes and to weld a bung in each one a few inches down from the throttle body boot. the Stock plastic pieces suck, and the genx pieces look alot better than the APR bipipe.

In theory you shouldnt have to replace anything else apart from the tune and the w/m kit, but as you allready know thats seldom the case. Just hope the extra 30HP dosnt bring out a pre existing problem...

Do the GenX Bi-pipes use the TBB still?

I'm rarely on Audizine so I don't know, but are these the same as the GenJDM pipes?
