Turbo's sound question
Just bought a b5 S4 The turbo's sound is very noticeable. Do the stock turbos have a very noticeble sound. I am wondering if they are upgraded. The car has Magnaflow exhaust, An small oil cooling radiator and aftermarket front fascia, and big *** front slotted/drilled rotors. I have driven an rs6 an didnt hear the turbos very much or at least nothing as loud as these.

RE: Turbo's sound question
I've got an absolutely stock car, and can barely hear my turbos. I have to be driving under a bridge or next to a wall in order to hear mine, and I have 125,000 miles on my stock K03s! But the fact that you have aftermarket exhaust and if you have an aftermaket chip, tells me that your turbos are most likely fine. But don't take my word on it! Just my opinion. I've heard that having those on your car makes it so you can hear your turbos more. There was a thread just a little bit ago (a few weeks ago) that had a link to a video with an S4 whos turbos were dying. I think you will know if they're on they're way down, cause its very loud and obnoxious.

RE: Turbo's sound question
Thanks for the posting . I checked out those dead turbo vids and mine don't sound anything like that at all. I am sure they are fine. I was just wondering if mine have been upgraded cause they are noticeable compared to driving an Rs6 which has bigger turbos, but since I can't see them I don't know.

RE: Turbo's sound question
the RS6 uses the bigger, KO4 turbos which create the same boost, with lower shaft speeds, hence the lack of whining noises. second, the RS6 is a V8, so naturally small sounds like turbos will be harder to hear over the V8 then the 2.7 you have.
