Default Turbo Lady is Creepin around the corner!

2002 s4
50k

So my passenger side turbo started to make the feared sound. Took it in and the shop said its the preliminary stage of the dammed turbo lady but they said not to stress cause it could be along time even years before it goes.

It only happens at low rpms like between 1500-2000ish, cant hear at all at wot or high speeds.

I know it really impossible to say how long I have. I do proper warm-ups, cool downs, oil changes etc, just started hearing it more lately since temps are warmer.

1. Can I do anything to prolong my turbos more than im doing?

2. What are my options when it does go? I have a tip so stage 3 is not an option... Not gonne deal with all the potential problems. And am also a full time college student workin 2 jobs to get through it so dont have that much extra cash.

Is there either a rebuild option, or just new k03's since im not trying to increase hp too much more.

Thanks Everyone!

purchase a powertrain warranty from the dealer so when they do go they can replace it for you. should cost you around 2 or 3 grand and you can finance it so cheap monthly payments. it sure beats a 4-6k repair bill

I have heard many bad things about warranties not covering cars that are not stock. So what are the options for a chipped car?

Im dealing with the same problem. I only hear a little whine in 2nd gear around 2500 rpm. Your option would be to find a stock ecu and install it...then get a powertrain warranty from the dealership. All you gotta do is put 10% down when you purchase it and you can choose the term. You can also finance it interest free for 18 months. Then once your new K03s are installed..install your chipped ecu and there ya go!!
