Did you happen to check my sig to see what Mustang I was talking about? I never said it was a sports car - but it is certainly no poser...its an original year Mustang - in fact one of the very first V-8 convertable Mustangs ever made - and its got only 53,000 miles - all original and in pristine shape. I know that this forum is about Audis - and most here more appreciate new, german and sport type cars - but heh now - there is something to be said for the old (American) classics and nice, well maintained older cars in general. I create quite a buzz with the car nearly every time I take it out - and it is a real joy to drive and just to be in driving around for passengers and driver alike...even with the automatic!

stop hatin on the mustangs lol i have a2000 5spd v6 mustang with lowwww miles and i LOVE it its not stock and can kill alot of hondas (what car cant) but spec v's, tiburons, etc ive beatin alot and dont have cvause i own a v6 mustang cause my s4 is aa v6 just a biturbo one thats got over 100+hp than the mustnag, the mustang is alot more fun to drive cause it bein a RWD (trac-loc installed) and love whipping the rear end of it so it can be a sports car and no poser car lol anyways i loveee my s4 just giving me some issues with the sensors but whose doesnt lol get the 6spd i personally love it

However if you enjoy cruising along on the highway/interstate and identify your S4 prime driving experience with such vice taking on twistys and such well then I guess you are entitled to consider the S4 strictly as a GT. I for one love the curves the best - such as those of Deals Gap/Tail of the Dragon - where our "GT" can pretty much keep up with the best "sports cars" etc - so it has 4 doors and a back seat...OK...too me its a sports car because what can legitimatly be done with it on the road - much more then just a long distance highway cruiser. And even if it were such I personally would still prefer - to the point of near exclusive interest - in the 6 speed - but again that is my preference. Others value different things or have other issues that come to play and I never said that a tip or auto wasn't a fair choice. I'm certain that the tip S4 is mighty entertaining in nearly all the ways the manual is. I just happen to treasure the ole heel & toe and all that sort of stuff...certainly for my "sports car" in any event.

My point is, the S4 is not a sports car. Yea, it handles ok, yea it has good power. But think of it stock, is it a sports car? A Honda S200, BMW M3, 911, F355, etc, they are sports cars. The down side is our cars do not handle all that well, & are very heavy. You feel every bit of it, with turn in, on/off power, breaking, etc.. While being better in a straight line, the S4 looses out in the turns.
Remember think STOCK, the nose dive on braking transfers WAY to much weight to the nose, the car understeers REALLY bad, has a very slow turn in.
Don't get me wrong, I love my S4, on twistys it's fun, but my car has a aggressive wheel alignment, to help it turn in, I have the car corner balanced on Coil overs, I spent almost $4k to get the car to stop properly. To make our cars a "sports car" we need about 800lbs less weight, better suspension geometry (better anti dive/squat) & better weight balance.
My stock suspension EVO will be faster on every corner.
Granted, when you throw a good sum of money into the car, it does start to fair better towards a "sporting" car.

The bigger thing is what are you going to get done on the 2.7t to get 500+hp? That's outside of K04 land.

I'm not looking to compare. This will be a one off. The objective is 1500 pounds not including driver and 500+hp. The body with doors/windowsweighsin around 250/300 lb(two people can pick it up with ease as for the body is currently sitting on saw horses in the garage). Tube frame chassis weighs 1.367 lb per foot, and plan to use less than 150 feet, approx 200 pounds. At max I'm hoping another 1000 pounds for engine, drivetrain, suspension. Either way you slice it, it's going to be light and quick, should be fun for street driving.
That being said, it's not going to be a daily driver and I could justify $5 to $8 bucks a gallon for fuel and the K04 option is one of the ones in mind. There are local shops but I'll worry about that when the car rolls nicely with the stock powerplant.
