timing belt service
I just bought a 2001 B5 S4 with 78k on it. I was gonna replace the timing belt around 85k. THe dealership Ive talked to said before 105k at the latest. My buddy is saying before 80k. Who actually is correct here????

RE: timing belt service
I would do it before 80K. Why risk it? I just did mine at 76K. But then again I had the engine all ripped apart replacing a bent valve so IDK... But I would do it sooner than later.

ok so I am takin my new B5 in tomorrow for a timing belt service to be on the safe side. not taking any chances. They quoted me around 1500. Is that the general cost for a B5 S4 TB service?

OK time for you to start using the search button for starters and you seem to be able to **** awaya lot of money, why don't you get an 08 s4 or something you don't have to worry about maintence.

I HATE 4.2L's! I cant stand them. They sound good but thats about it. Cant really get creative when it comes to modifying the engine.I think B5s are the best cars ever. So much potential under the hood ifyou wanna go down that road.I've wanted one for so long and I finally have it. Got my car back today and the timing belt service cost 1280. wasnt too bad. I thought it was gonna be more expensive.

sorry for double post, that quote was from mahdavi motorsports here in GA, had small stuff by them once, really trust the guys, if i were you id snoop around more to save a few bucks since you got some time, id check out small performance shops with good reputation around your area, sometimes they offer the best prices for small jobs, just to increase their monthly bottom line lol.
