ya know.. im not sure.. i know my car is stage 3+ and 151k, and its still strong. i did a compression test before i installed all of my components to go stage 3, and cylinder # 2 seemed weaker than the rest (145 psi as to 175-180ish). but it runs great, ive heard the only problem with these engines are oil leaks, and if you continue to change the oil with proper maintenance as well, they can go forever.. and rotating mass is the worse weight for cars. 30 lbs of non rotating mass has the same effect as 10 lbs of rotating mass.. so, every little bit cant hurt, unless the finished product is weaker..

kinda like cheap lightweight wheels. help tremendously with acceleration and cornering, but if you hit a pot hole, its bye-bye wheels.. even with more expensive ones that happens..

Thats weird, maybe a fluke on cylinder 2? Today I did some research on ceramic thermal coatings and got to wondering if you could potentially speed up the spool time on a 605 with a good coating on a tube manifold and 3" downpipes. Many forums claim noticible differences in bay temperatures and that saved energy could go toward spoolin that snail. Its cheap to get done, anything that increases effeciency sounds good to me.

I recently had my stock manifolds coated. I haven't got around to measuring the underhood temp since, but I'm very skeptical about it helping with the turbocharger spool. Those coatings are so thin they're next to pointless for helping to retain heat in the exhaust gasses. When you measure an insulation material thickness in single digit micron's you can't have very high expectations.

..kinda noticed the same about my ceramic coated inlets.. looks and feels like a black painted piece of tubular steel.. they get as hot as anything else under the hood, i wonder how that thin layer of steel as well as the "ceramic coating" keeps the inlet temps down..
