hmmm.... well I do like thrust... I guess I don't really know what I want yet. If cost and time were no option I would get the gt28RS snails and rework the internals and go for power power power. I would need another car to do my DD though.

you could do tials 605/RS6's and internals (rods, maybe 2.8 heads and cams) and have a ton of timing and get similar to k04 thrust sooner than i do, then have 550 whp or so screaming to redline. im debating on whether or not to build and stay RS6's or to build and go tial 770's. a well built 770 car will do 575 whp on pump and 675 whp on race gas.. thats just stupid..
and you could always be one of the first A6's with a VR6 swap.. :-)

Stating that 605's will bring on TQ similar to K04's is something your going to need to back up with a dyno chart to get me to believe. The turbo's are physically different, and that causes the different TQ curves. Different rods and 2.8 heads/cams are not going to shift the TQ curve left. From the comparo's I've seen on heads, 2.7 vs 2.8 vs RS4 the 2.7 head is best for early TQ.

K04's for a DD are a great match. I'm not yet convinced that 605's are better in a DD car.

If you do the Tial setup you should do downpipes and larger intercoolers. That adds about 2 grand to the total. My build will be right around 10K when it's done, but I would be doing those upgrades in the future anyway so they're just doing it all now. I would like to have a 3.0L block built while it's out, but I've spent enough money this time. I will let you know how it runs when I get it back.

not a matter of whether or not you believe me, was not stating it as an unbendable fact, but you can get better low end thrust than my car with rods due to the added timing you can run. my car runs a low amount of timing advance from 3000-4500, so the boost from the RS6's wont break a rod. you could do the same thing with RS4's and get even better low end torque. so yeah, you wont be able to make up for the earlier spool time of the smaller turbo, but there are things you can do (freeflowing exhaust, intake and add more timing) that can give you more power sooner. and i was just stating 2.8 heads for if you going to build, build it right.. get some freer flowing intake and free up some more hp up top..

believe me, youll get plenty of thrust from k04's, RS6's, or TiAL 605's. the latter of the two let you have more fun up top for sure..

How similar to the rs6's are the tial 605's? Bigern45 according to your sig you are running a setup very similar to my build goal. Can you tell me about the spool characteristics of your RS6's? I mean, I live in the city where most of my driving fun is spoiled by stoplights unless I hop on the interstate. Do you loose all of your low end with bigger turbos?

not at all..think about how steep our first gear is.. and second pulls like a banshee up to 60 so.. i have a video of a buddy driving my car up in CT after EPL dyno tuned it..ill locate it and post it.. ive heard that the 605 kit will hit peak torque 200-300 rpms later than the RS6's.. but for the reward you get in redline rush its worth it.. and i have no solid dyno plots or anything to compare the TiALs to the RS6's.. when im at the strip i launch from 4500, and most guys with k04's are launching from 4000. and on a hot track (90* or so) on one of my last pulls with the car missing cause of old plugs, i ran 11.92, best trap of the day was 122...

found it.. and this guy is doing an RS6 build as well, and he told me that hes driven in a number of k04 S4's and NONE of them pull like my car.. .

lol sounds like he got a four ring freak out. Makes me wonder what its like to drive something like the veyron or the mclaren f1...

So are you trying to say that the extra $$ for the tial 605 set is worth it despite the slightly higher spool? Does it really pull that much harder than the rs6 to redline?

my dyno numbers were 458 whp and 475 wtq... tials on stock block are doing more whp, equal to or a hair less torque. and yes, you can get tials for cheaper than RS6's (i got my RS6's at a deal over 1 1/2 years ago) and for close the price range as RS4 k04's..

the extra money for the TiALs are definitely worth it over the K04's.. RS6 vs. 605's still kinda unproven still.. maxing out on k04's, youll get (with meth/water) 425-450 whp... the 605's on a stock block will get you 505+ whp..
