Default TiAL 605 specific discussion

Since the owners of the TiAL 605 turbo's seem to be dispersed amongst various forums and/or hidden, and since I am in the process of trying to document my build and tune with this set up, I decided to add a section to my web site, for this specific topic.

On the main page of my web site at the bottom of the menu is now a link to a forum based at my web site for discussion of the TiAL 605's. Accessibility will be graduated based upon degree of involvement with this product. Anyone will be able to view the open discussion areas, but you would need to register to participate in discussions.

I have also established a closed discussion forum that I will limit to verified owners, and vendors, for the purpose of dialog on issues and concerns. The intent is to generate some communication between owners of this kit for tips and lessons learned and give those considering this kit a one stop shop to learn some more about the particulars of the TiAL 605 turbochargers.

IMPORTANT: I am not setting this up because I want to run a forum. Don't give me crap if something doesn't work as well as these established forums due. The point is to share information more effectively between owners of the TiAL 605's.

Induktion is building my TiAL 605 setup right now. I should have it back in a couple of weeks.

oh man I'm jealous. I'd love to get a 605 setup, but I'll probably only upgrade to k04s when my stockies go... I hate being a young and loving cars haha

you DO realize that the TiAL 605 kit is not that much more than the k04's.. right?? i mean, your talking a grand more for another 100 whp or so.. if your already going 7 grand for the k04's (rp or borg warner), why not go 8ish and enjoy more power and potential, especially if your throwing rods in there...

K04's and 605's have distinctly different characteristics, what somebody is looking for from the upgrade is the most important consideration.

The TiAL kit from EPL is between $5k to $5.5k depending on if you use the TiAL inlets or not.

Exactly! Using EPL's own K04 and S605 dyno plots, their K04 kit is making 360 wtq vs. 240 wtq at 3000 rpm. Generally everything happens 1000 rpm earlier on the K04 vs the S605. Keep in mind too that the S605 dyno plot is 93 octane + meth (more or less comparable to 100 octane) where as the K04 numbers are straight 93 octane.

The S605 is almost certainly faster on a 1/4 track. But very likely slower in traffic, autoX, and small to moderate road courses compared to a K04. In short pick, between them based on how often you plan to be on a dyno or make straight line blasts well above 100 MPH.

My a6 is really only a daily driver +. I try not to get above 3500 rpms during my normal driving. I live in denver so really gunning the straights is a no way. I'm just looking to make strong torque numbers in the lower rpm spectrum, to put more pep in the girl's step at the occasional stoplight.

If the v6 pushed more air I might think about bigger turbos but anything bigger than the RS6 turbos spool to slow for me from what I've heard.

I doubt a K04 car is going to be faster than a 605 car when they are both being driven in a manner to leverage their strengths. Like you point out, with K04's the punch comes about 1000 rpm sooner, so the transition from DD style driving can be quicker, though by downshifting you can easily get the 605's to a good rpm.

what do you want.. the initial thrust from the k04's?? i mean, no doubt, thatll get some panties wet.. but have you ever rode in a RS6 car or a 605 car?? from 2500-3200ish, its like.. "wow, something is going on here.." , then from 4000-7000 you can make vin diesel **** his pants.. no joke. . initially, i did miss my low end thrust with no fuss with my stage 2 chipped k03 car... but talk to anyone.. RS6's or 605's are the way to go, even with a daily driver setup.. im just saying..

and no doubt, k04's is more than anyone will need.. but the way these things pull till redline is RIDICULOUS...

here are some logs from my car just a few weeks ago... outside temps was about 80 degrees (maybe hotter, im not sure, but definitely not cooler) and pull was uphill slightly, misfiring in 4th gear... you can see how well the car pulls from 4000 to redline. and you can see that its no slouch sub 3500 rpm...
