Default tdc

any one know which cylinder is set to tdc when the mark is lined up on the crank pully?? I have heard number 3 cylinder, just want some reassurance.

should be 1.. not that i know for a fact, but why would it be 3..

then again, this is an audi b5...

Haha thats what I thought two. some one told me that it was number 3 tho. On my motor when the crank marks line up and the crank tool can be inserted to hold the crank in place it is in fact the #3 cylinder (passanger side rear cylinder) that is at tdc. My motor is a 3.0l build but I don't think that would make a difference.

.. and just because the piston is at top dead doesnt mean that the valves are in the same position. you can have more than one piston at top dead center at a time....

but cool, glad you figured it out..
