What is the stock top speed of the b5 S4?
I dont mean what it could do if only aero drag limited, but rather is there a speed limiter on the US s4 that governs its top speed?

From my user manual it says that the S4 is electronically limited to 130 mph, but yet I hear of others hitting higher speeds in stock settings.

Has anyone experainced a fuel cut on the b5 S4 for speed governing? If so, at what speed?

I am not sure but I think a chip could possibly take out the governor if there is one, that may be why some people can only do 130 yet others can go faster.

 

Unchipped I have gone 130 maybe a little more, wasn't quite paying attention to the speedometer so much as the road...chipped is another story. Last night I knocked on the 140 mph door on 95 in philly, it was 1:30 am and no one was on the road so I felt it was nec. to check out some of the capabilities of the giac chip...she works alright...got to 140 mighty fast.

 

yes my s4 governs out at 140...and thats still 5th GEAR!!!!when i tune it i will definitely be able to hit 160 no problem considering hitting 140 in 5th at 5000 rpm's not chipped.....

 

I bought my b5 s4 brand new in 2002. Stock I could hit 143 before it cuts out w/ GPS unit. Know I have hit 149-150 with GIAC chip 007 dv's and GPS confirmed.

Dont know why you could only hit 130?

 

ya ive always heard its 130 stock but never learned what the chip cuts out if it even does....i do know although that the s4 can go to 184 then the gears cant do anymore lol or soo says the guy from nogaroblue.com

 

odds are you will not be going much faster than 170...your speedometer won't even register after that, it will just be pinned to the back...and yes 170 is fast.

From what I am reading we have specific reports of Stock s4's getting governed at 143 mph.
And I see no reports or any s4 getting stuck at 130.

Unless someone has an experiance getting fuel cut at 130, I think 143mph fuel cut is the answer. I had read both 130 and 142 in differnt places but 143 looks like the winner.

Sooks have you had it cut on you at 155?
