sooks- You said it right about the police and unwanted attention with the sti/evo. I am selling my evo IX for just that reason. Looking to get either the S4 or RS4. As for performance, my IX is unbelievable. It went 11.5/117 with intake, exhaust, and ecu flash with 1.5 60' s. But, it is just so archaic inside. No amenities, not even cruise. I drove a used S4 the other day and fell in love with it. I agree with you, if I could have both, the IX would be a track car and I'd sport the S4/RS4 as my daily. That would be the best of both world's.

yeh i was checking out what B5 S4 mods cost because im considering a B5 S4 (instead of an Evo) and was shocked to see that downpipes cost $1500 from APR [sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

Chip, CIAC S4 $750 (stock & X) Works for the EVO $450
Then the worst part, STG 2 S4 VS STG 2 EVO, EVO kicks it's ***. For less $$ puts down a ton more HP. Or course the EVO starts & 290hp vs the S4 250hp.
Forgot to mention, WORKS stuff is more costly then most other EVO parts, it keeps my factory warranty!

Yea, tell me about it! I did a turbo back on my S4, cost $2600! Then I have a Works turbo back on my EVO, it's also ceramic coated, cost $1250.

are you atleast please with the mods you have done on the S4? looking at your sig thats exactly what i wanna do to mine. my reason for getting the S4 over the Evo is that its cheaper, less trouble from cops and plus its not a Lancer. i just hope i wont be dissappointed when i do what you have in your sig.

1. As I was driving off the Dealer lot, the CEL light came on, had the dealer look at it & had the 60kmi service done
$1000 (learned a lot that week, never go to dealer, ordered a Vagcom)
2. Brakes were gone, did all 4 rotors & pads, SS lines, fluid flush (got a lot off the asking rpice due to it)
$500 in parts, did work my self
3. Flushed all fluids, trans, diffs, coolant, PS.
$175 ( used all redline)
4. Then the mods started, of course you know what they cost.
5. Found my rims from a local guy, said they were in good shape, found out tires were shot, 2 rims were bent, ended up costing as much to fix the rims as a brand new set.
Now I have to fix my drivers seat, it does that moving thing, have the parts just don't know what to do with them.
After the vogland install, when the car was getting corner balanced & aligned, found out my tie rods are shot.
Yep, doing all the dam front control arms, which means taking out the voglands, double labor on me, there another $500.
Now we get to my Evo, I done 4 oil changes in the year I've had it, & changed all fluids over to Redline. That's it, then the mods.
All in all, the total cost of ownership, the S4 is over the EVO, but when I get the S4 done then the EVO's car payment will make the S4 look cheap.
So far I have put over $7000 into the S4, if I had known what I do now, I would have purchased a well sorted out STG III S4, and have a few thousand in the bank.
My S4 moves, it's really a fast car, but it's smooth and doesn't feel as raw as the EVO. While the S4 is a very fast car, it's not as fast as a EVO with the same mods.
