Service Bulletin!! scary is this true?

i just read that the crank shaft gear on the B5's has been known to fail due to failure of the "key" on the inside of the gear. has this happened to anyone? because that would suck!

Hasnt happend to me, andI have never heard of that happening on this car that I know of. But yes that would suck.
