So I'm in the market for a 2005.5-2007 S4 and it seems like 90% of them have had 2-3 owners in that short time span....

Any idea what the deal is with that? My only theory involves another observation and that is that Audi drivers tend to drive twice as much as Mercedes and BMW owners. If you do a cars.com search for all models within a certain price range, you'll see Audi drivers reeeeally like to drive. So you couple that with the ~16MPG that the S4 can get with (lots of) spirited driving and I can see people scoffing at their annual gas bill.

But that can't be it can it? I mean people who buy these cars (should) know what they're getting in to.

 

I'd bet its more to do with the economy. 2005-2007 was during the boom. And then came the bust. I'm sure a lot of people suddenly couldn't afford the S4. Just my thought.

FYI, I got 35.5 mpg in my S4 yesterday, driving 100 miles from Big Bear down to the Valley!!!

The economy made it difficult for people to keep up with the car costs between payments, insurance and fuel. Many households had two incomes and went down to one or even both being unemployed. For those with jobs and who had savings, there were great opportunities to pick up a barely used Audi with great options. It's a shame some had to give up their car. Things will get better.
