Default RS6 Turbos

alright guys well im coming close to the turbo failure stage. darn
well for me i think the garret turbos are way out of the price range.. I was pretty sure about getting rs4 ko4's but whats with the new ASP rs6 turbos. I mean what kind of turbos are they even. (rs4=ko4 rs6=???)
I have a buddy that works at audi and would like to see how much he can get me the turbos for.. So they would be from a 2003 audi rs6?
would the rs6 turbos need any modifications? or would they be close to a bolt on fit.

thanks

I did very little digging on MRC and performanceaudi and it looks like they are using K04's unless there sites are just not up to date or i'm looking in the wrong place...

no, there is lots of parts you need to run them...the housings are much larger, and im not even sure they fit in there without relocating them (double check on that tho). Unlike k04s, your car will not run with out all the supporting hardware, at least, not run well. but im pretty sure they have to be relocated to fit in there.

I think, but again, im not 100% sure, that you would have to go a full stage 3 (or whatever we would call rs6 conversion). the turbos move too much air at stock boost for the engine and fuel to keep up. you would need at least the RS4 fueling kit, and a custom tune definately for it to run safely. if you wanted to get the most out of your rs6, you would have to throw together a custom fueling kit as well since the rs4 is only good for about 450 hp. the rs6 turbos are capable of much more.

hopefully someone with a little more experience can chime in and help out.... dont take my word on anything, as i would hate to lead you wrong, but from my research, im pretty sure thats the deal.

yeah i know you have to have fueling and a new maf. also a new ecu to go with that, but u can get 450 on 93 that is big numbers on pump gas. i am not as sure but 90% you need to have new rs4 manafolds, and inlets.

These, as with stage 3, are not required but if you keep your stock ones, you restrict your horsepower potential by a lot.
