Replacing rotors on S4 at 25K Miles?
Hi, I'm new to the forum.
Just took my 2010 S4 to the 25K service (actual mileage 24,400) and was told by the dealership I'll need new pads and rotors. They said the break light will probably come on in the next 1-2K miles. This is my first Audi (had Jeeps and BMWs before). Never had to change rotors on the first break pad change before - is this expected of an S4 or do you think the dealership is trying to sell me something I don't need?

All the car companies have gone with a much softer rotor surface to try to help with brake noise. And now everything is wearing down together. I'm seeing much more cases with rotors overheated and warped due to this. Also if you were to pay to have the rotors turned it would most likely be more expensive in the end then new rotors due to labor costs. If you'd like send over a scanned copy of the estimate and I'll gladly go over it. In a lot of cases every shop is taking as much as possible since the customer is usually none the wiser.
CINELLI thoughts -- I started a blog exploiting the industry. I've worked at dealerships and local shops all across the country. I've seen a lot. And all the theifs are all pulling the same tricks..
