Default Recommended Oil / Transmission Fluid / Differential Fluid for Stage 3

Many of you probably already know I picked up a Stage 3 2001 S4 (6spd). The car had no records whatsoever and so I would like to replace the cars fluids (a little preventative maintenance).

So, what do you guys recommend for Oil? Transmission Fluid? Differential Fluid?

The car will primarily be driven in San Diego, CA.

Thank you.

you can never go wrong with redline products or royal purple. givin that you have a high hp car i would definitely recommend either one. people say that royal purple isnt as good in colder weather but i havent had any problems and you're in san diego anyway. plus you can buy rp off the shelf and most redline has to be ordered online.(ive yet to find it in a store)

There are some mixed opinions on oil weights.

I run 0w40, especially since the winters here can get cold. It may not be as important for you in San Diego's mild weather, but I still recommend the lighter weight 0w40. Others may disagree with me, but the last thing you want is for the flow of oil to your turbos to be stalled because you're running thicker oil. This is especially important if you plan on taking your car to the mountains where it's cold.

BTW, I run Mobil 1 -- IMO, it's the best.

yea 75w90 is good for your tranny and diff. i think you'd be fine with 5w30. you might get some more engine noise if you go with a 0wXX but it wouldnt hurt to try. i use mobile 1 as well and its a great oil. vavoline just came out with a new oil where they claim to be like 4times better than mobile. wouldnt hurt to try that too.

Temps in the teens -- I'd run 0w40
