Question about newly purchased B5
Hey all, new member here with a new(used) 2001.5 S4. Ill just dive right into things.
When I purchased the car, I was told it had the following modifications:
APR STAGE 2 Tuned for 93 octane
K04 Turbos
VAST Fuel Pressure Regulator
TT Diverter Valves
Piggie Pipes that lead to a Neuspeed Exhaust.
Now, maybe I expected a little too much of it, but I was severely disappointed this weekend when I took it to the track.
Maybe it's the fact that it was 98 Degrees out. Maybe the fact that its an automatic. I dont know. But after around 8 runs down the 1/4 mile, my best for the day was 13.8.
From what I understand, that can easily be achieved with a stock S4. Is that number right for those conditions?
I have not had the chance to 'verify' any of the modifications, excluding the Exhaust and APR Tune.
So, have I been 'scammed' so to speak? Or is the combination of mods just not complete? Would weather really have that large of an effect?
Thanks in advance guys and gals.

its only tuned for a stage 2?? that means that you are at stage 3- with those mods. and my best run was a 13.6 in my stage 2. id say auto tranny sucks for good times, but you will be a very consistant bracket racer!!
get some stage 3 fueling done to the car, then talk to VAST about making sure your transmission is strong enough. i think you need to upgrade the auto in these for stage 3 power...

you need a new tune to utilize those k04's. you have a stage 2 tune wich is for k03's. a 3- tune is more aggressive and will drop your times a little more at the track. you may also want to look into a TCU upgrade to remap your shift points. you will need some extra fueling that goes beyond a fuel pressure regulator when going 3-. (injectors, fuel pump, etc.) the 3- tune is for people who run k04's with an auto trans. if you want more beyond this you really need to upgrade your tranny with a better torque converter and maybe a valve body rercalibration. aside from that however you probably are suffering from some heat soak as well and may want to look into some awe or er smic's or a front mount intercooler of some sort (jhm).
