Maybe so, but I have the 2012 with Stronic and I have to say, I HATE it... having all sorts of issues with it. That transmission takes the PERFORMANCE out of the S4. Its OK... but nothing like the 6MT. Problems with this trans are crazy upshifts, hanging up between gears. At times the trans will NOT allow launch control as it bogs off the line.. the BIGGEST issue with this thing is.. at highway speeds... when you press the accelorator hard... you get HIGH RPMS.. but the trans takes about 2 seconds to finally find a gear... its TERRIBLE... I have been all over AUDI with these issues and they wont do a thing about until until others complain. Just saying... buyer beware. I am currently kicking myself!!!! I had the STASIS tune and intake added since... but still the car is WEAK with S Tronic. Good luck.

You are coming off a Porsche, so I can see how you of all people would be disappointed, very understandable. I am coming off an Acura RL, so from a power stance, it will still be an upgrade, no doubt. I will be OK with the Automatic, I would have preferred to get the Manual, but I have to consider my wife, even though she has her own car, I have to be fair about. I however am still waiting and it is getting old

Default Bad trans

Forget the fact that I own the Porsche, what I am saying is
This transmission has major flaws. If you seek performance, you won't get that out of the S Tronic. All I am saying is the manual is night and day better!

Good luck!

I hear what you are saying, but you are the only one I have noticed with these issues. Have you heard the same complaint from other people ? I test drove the automatic a few weeks back and didn't notice the problem you are talking about, then again I had the salesman next to me, so I didn't open it up that much either. Guess I am just wondering if everyone feels the same way you do, because if they do, I sure haven't noticed it. Guess I will know it once I drive it on a normal basis.

I too would like to hear from other S4 owners about the dual-clutch automatic transmission, and if it is a flawed design. Manual transmission is not an option for me. Thx.

Default To be fair

Just to be fair and very clear... I love this car, but that S Tronic is not right. Reading back the quotes, the words flawed design are somewhat harsh... What the real issue is and what the dealer is quoted as saying is TCM issues. Having said that, I have had multiple conversations with Audi who is coming to drive the car. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. And yes, like to hear from early 2012 S4 owners of s Tronic as well. It's no secret that there are other models with roll back, clunky shifts etc.. Mine just has delay problems. My post was NOT meant to deter anyone from buying this car... I have multiple Audi's in the driveway.

Well I found out last night that my car will be delayed until January 4th. I gotta say that sucks, but I knew it wouldn't be quick, since I put my own build in. Hopefully, I get lucky and it goes a bit faster, but I'm not holding my breath.
