Oxygen sensor false alarm??
I own a 2000s4 with 74000 kms, at couple months ago i got a CEL, when i took it to be diagnosed the VW dealership said that it was a code for the oxygen sensors that had fired the CEL. I kept driving my car for a bit, and the CEL went away.. i recently took it in to audi to see if they would replace the o2 sensors. When they diagnosed it they said it was a sporadic fault stored in the memory, but at the time of testing everything was testing fine. The tech told me to drive it and see if the cel comes back.
no CEL has come back, my S4 at idle sounds kind of strange, i dont' remember if it always ideled like that because i haven't owned the car for that long. when the car is ideling should you only hear a constant noise? or does the s4 at idle sound like it's always changing (you can kinda hear change in pitch in fans and stuff)
as well i'm getting about 14L/100kms in the city, is that what the car should run at? it seems like at times it moves from rich to lean.
as well do turbo timers work for our cars with no problems? i have heard that you cannot triger the alarm when the car is running.
Thanks.

RE: Oxygen sensor false alarm??
i had my CEL come on for 4 codes after i first got it. 2 codes for O2 sensors and 2 for a random misfire and cyl 5 misfire. took it to work, printed it out and cleared em. idle kinda still is not steady and feels somewhat rough but the light has not come back on it 10k miles. so yea, i guess this is normal. VAG is well known for sporatic and random codes that dont mean a damn thing. as far as milage, i get around 20 mpg city and 24 mpg hwy,i dont know what that converts to. turbo timers do work, i dont know about the alarm not working, but they have a parking brake shut off that can prevent theft.
