Hi eveybody, I have been reading here ever since I started searching for an S4, now I found one I want to buy. Its a 2000black auto w/ no mods and 94,000 for $9900. My first question is are they reliable w/ this many miles? I am probiblytaking it to an Audi dealership b4 I buy so is there specific problemsI should have them look for or better yet I can look for myself? Also I know they are hard to work on but would I be unable to get a haynes or Chilton manual and learn myself or is this next to impossible(mediocre mechanic skills w/ only Honda experience)?

 

They don't make chilton or haynes manual for the s4, only for the a4. If you want a manual your going to have to buy the factory service manual from bently publications. I think with mediocre ability and a little common sense you should be able to do any required basic work on it. It all depends how the car has been treated it's whole life, if it's been beat on hard it's going to be needingsome work.

 

There is no way to tell how good/bad the car is. It really depends on how the old owner took care of it. The engines are strong. It's all the little things that get you.

Pick up the Bentley manual, it's really all we have, then pick up a Vag-Com, it's more useful then the bentley.

The Timing Belt should be done already, & I bet the control arms, & TRE, are going out. I would find a good local independent shop check it out, the dealers usually suck at PPI's.
