Need a better radar detector

RE: Need a better radar detector
I'm going to save up and get the V1 and ajammer. I looked at the results of that test that Batteries posted and my current one is the worst by far. In the meantime I'll slow it down, but that's not easy to do with all that power under the hood.
Brandon, I surprised you still have a license. In CA I think they pull it if you get 4 pts in 2 years. I'm at 3 now, which is why I'm so worried.

Talked to my car toys shop today. They recommend http://k40.com/defu_main.html. It's pricey though ($1700 installed). Also looking at http://www.escortradar.com/srx.htm.
I'll let you guys know what I end up with.

Is your license suspended? If so, that's bad bad news, at least in CA. Back in my misspent youth I got caught driving on suspended and it was 5 days jailtime (served picking up trash on weekends) and $1000. Nowadays they can also take your car. That's why I'm so paranoid about getting it suspended again - if I don't drive, I don't eat. It's worth it to me to spend a couple grand on the detector/jammer if it saves my license. And it's not realistic to think I'll never speed; when my car is taching 2500rpms I'm doing about 85. It's easy to zone out and be 20mph over the limit.

I know that it's kind of boring to drive with the cruise on, but atleast you can really stop worrying if you're accidentally speeding up. It gets tiring looking at the speedometer every 7 seconds to make sure you're within a "safe" speed.
You should give the cruise a try.

Ya, cruise saves my tail nowadays. I had my licenses suspended for about 2 months and some change. It was orginally 6 months, but we talked them out of it. That was the worst 2 months of my life. That alone makes me not want to get more tickets.

Ugh. Tickets suck. I was driving at an indisclosed speed when a Statie on-ramped behind me. I saw, and reacted, but so did she, and I ended up waiting for 45 minutes with my hands out the window. She examined the car 3 (countem: Three) times, wound up, and threw the book at me. It was a pamphlet by the time it got to me, 15 mph over the speed limit, failing to signal, and too little distance between me and a car I got in front of. All BS, there was no radar clocking, and she was too far away to see if I did anything else. She also wrote me up for no seatbelt, which is a laugh, I was wearing mine. She took that back, which will not go in her favor. I hired the former President of the Providence City Counsel as my lawyer. He is very good, and very charismatic. The judge told me straight up not to find myself in his courtroom again, so I figured I had better pack a whallop this time. I need a Valentine, a Veil, the whole 9 yards.
PS, you should really make sure you paint your mirrors, inside and out, and why not paint the vanity mirrors too. You never know. Shiny things reflect lasers.
