[align=right]edit delete [/align] Ok, just bought a chipped MTM ECU from someone here on audiworld and I installed it today, I let it calibrate etc, took it out for a spin, I noticed it, but i also noticed that my car somewhat stumbles now as if its having problems getting up and going around 2500 rpm only in like 3rd or so but when it hits 3000+ the chip kicks in and you can tell so I have no idea whats going on here, my check engine light also went on after like an hour or so of driving with the chip,

Let's start with that info....

 

One problem with buying a chip from a person out of state:

IN cali we only get 91 Oct.

In other states it might be as high as 93.

I actually have a friend that bought an ECU out of state and it ran like ****.

SO another bit of info that could help us answer your Q:

What state are YOU in? and What state did you buy your ECU from? It could be programmed for a higher octane.

I have a Bob Pastore MTM 1+ clone in my UrS4 and I specifically told him to program it with 91 octane in mind. Car runs smooth like butter.

This might be your issue....assuming nothing else has changed but the ECU...

 

Its a 2000 s4 manual 6 spd. No other mods and the chip is from south carolina im preety sure and i fill her up with 91 octane and I dont see how that would be the problem if I am only seeing this in around 3rd gear btwn 2000 and 3000 rpms, 1st and 2nd are smooth as butter and everything was fine until i got the mtm chip in there, then i got the codes, but im going switch the stock ecu back in and see if that fixs it , if not its probly something the chip did did to my car maybe ruined the MAF maybe it was on its last leg or something dunno?

So, what does it do under boost, in other gears? is it fine?
