Default Might buy V8 s4?

Hey guys, I currently own a 95 twin turbo rx7. Its a beast and I love the car but i'm ready for something a little more comftorable. I just had a few questions for you guys with the v8 s4. First off is the tranny capable of taking more hp or is it pretty weak like the rs6? I've been searching around the forums but can only find info on the b5. Are there many options of mods for the v8 (chips exhuast etc..) or are they limited?. Also as a stock comparison say in a straight line who would win between the v8 and the i6 333hp M3 or the 390hp SVT. Also around what pricewould be a fair price for a 2004/2005 s4?

So far the tip trans seems to handle just about everything available for the b6/b7 cars, which is getting tobe more extensive but forced induction is very pricy and should be the only instance requiring a trans overhaul. As far as the RS6 not sure what trans issues you've heard of, My friend has an 03 chipped, exhaust, etc and it hasn't had a trans hiccup at 500+ hp. The M3 is faster in a 1/4 mile by a tiny bit, the Cobra should be the fastest of the three in a straight line and the audi will destroy any of them on the back roads.

Thxn for the info, Also is there any difference between the b6 and b7 s4? Or is it all style wise? How much hp increase am I looking at with a chip and catback. Also I'm new to audi's but with my rx7 my ecu upgraded required tunning. Do the chips such as giac and stuff just plug in and are pre-tuned or something? And also is there a newbie post on the v8 s4? Looks like most info on this forum is about the b5 anybody have a link on all i show know abotu the b6/b7?

When you order a chip just have it installed at a local shop and that takes care of everything. You don't have to mess with anything or worry about tuning.

If you are looking to modify the naturally aspirated V8. the gains are going to be minimal for the money. You will probably be better off with forced induction. You can add an exhaust, air intake, ECU flash; but for the money spent, the gains are actually quite minimal. There are aftermarket superchargers out there , but with a very hefty price tag. (MTM wants about $25,000 without labor included). The nice thing about the naturally aspirated engine is that you get to avoid that annoying turbo lag!!! However, I recently traded in my B7 S4 for this same reason. I started tracking it, and I realized I wanted some hotter laps. The B7 S4 was very limited as far as what performance mods you could do, unless you spent major money.
As far as S4 vs M3, you should check out this video. I think most people here have seen this one already.

Every time I see this thread I think "I could have had a V8! - just can't not have that go through my head (actually I'm quite happy - performance wise with my B5 BT)
