Manual or Tiptronic?

RE: Manual or Tiptronic?
Manual is my vote. It's a close one, though. For track use, I think the Tiptronic probably has it on the merits of speed of gearchange, as long as you have the flappy-paddle things on the steering wheel.
There's somthing just more satisfying about a manual though that makes it more fun to drive on a casual basis. I don't subscribe to the 'good in traffic' theory. Some of the worst traffic in the world is in European cities, where I learned to drive, and they use... manuals.
NTM

Stick all the way. It's just more fun to shift yourself. For everyone that uses traffic as a reason not to get a stick, that's just lame. You can keep an S4 moving at 2-3 mph without using the clutch and just idle along with traffic. I do this all the time in NYC and it works great. You just need to plan a little better when driving in traffic. Don't be too eager to pull up on someone just because they moved. Just keep creeping along and you will greatly reduce the time that you are on the clutch.

i love the tip in my car.
its useless to argue about which is more fun, obviously stick creates a more active driving experience and puts you in slightly more direct control with the car, but for some people stuck in traffic all the time, manual is just a true pain. having the tip, gives you nearly all the control of manual, with the ability to kick it into auto in heavy traffic. i live in ny and i run into traffic often...besides, my stock 02 a4 already offers me more than enough power to get myself in trouble.
i can't even imagine driving a car like the rs4 when it comes here to america. where the hell are you going to be able to drive that thing?
