Default Man....clutch out after two weeks

What's up seansoned pros? I have a huge problem. I just bought this 2000 S4 with a crap load of miles, 127K to be exact, becuase I love the S4 and it was what I can afford. I love the car, but the clutch went out. The funny thing is that it was completely fine when I bought it. Then yesterday, out of the blue, I pin it in third gear, and the engine simply starts reving, and the car goes nowhere.

Anyways, it still is somewhat driveable. I could change the gears just fine. It catches really late also. So what do you guys think. Do I need a new clutch? I know that sometimes it could be a stupid problem, like topping of the brake fluid, but the car brakes just fine, and when engaged, I could freely and smoothly change the gears. Whats you take guys and gals? Your help is sincerely appreciated.

Ya thats a bad clutch, is it still the stock clutch in the car? Even when your clutch is on the way out you can still shift between gears and brake no problem the clutch just cant handle the inertia. You may be able to granny it for a little while and limp around untill you have the money for a clutch. But every time it slips like that its getting worse and will eventually become undrivable.

IMO get an RS4 clutch and resurfaced or lightweight flywheel, it will hold the power fine up till stage 3

to be the devils advacate of sort..... have you ever driven a standard tranny car before?

that could be part of your problem if you haven't.... also you know that audi's clutches engage almost near the top(fully let out), right?

i bet the clutch is fine but the problem is more the Pressure plate or the throw out bearing.

It really could be any tranny part. But, you say now it is fine, it only happened once? Also the clutch can just go without any warning.

Thanks for all of your replies. It has a stage 2 clutch in it, so it was catching right away before. I have been driving manuals all my life, so I don't think I can be dumb enough to ruin the clutch after two weeks.
-to answer one of the questions. I pulled out of a parking lot perfectly. No signs of trouble. I drove it about fifteen minutes, and still no sign of trouble. I ended on an open road and pinned it, and thats when the car started having the trouble. I think I'm just going to take the bad boy apart and see the problem. It sucks, however, I found a o.e.m. clutch kit on ebay for $200, which is not bad, but its stock. I have a stage 2 on it now, so I don't think I will like the difference.
