Default MAF Sensor problem, please help

Ok, here is my deal - hopefully someone can offer me some reassurance or a solution:

My car threw a check engine light, so I took it into the shop and they said it was the MAF sensor because it was posting 0.4g/s(?) at idle when it should of been 2.8-5.8 or something like that - the car felt no different whatsoever to me when this problem supposedly existed. Also, the car is chipped if this helps.

Now for my problem - they replaced the MAF sensor and now the car cuts out under full or lots of throttle, and if floored in a high gear it goes for a bit then shudders and really feels like its not getting enough gas and I can hear the turbos whirling away. It will drive fine at low throttle, throughout all RPM range, it's only when you give it some gas or floor it that it cuts out or shudders/struggles.

The shop told me it needs 50-100KM of driving and then the car will totally adapt to it and all will be 100%. Is this true? or should I be worried of other things? Also they told me they could hook it up to their computers and "train" it, but they said driving it for a while will do the same thing.

Am I going to be in the clear after the 50-100km of driving? if not, any suggestions/solutions?

I thought maybe a boost leak, but it was 100% before the new MAF

Thanks in advance, any help appreciated!

Mark

Default RE: MAF Sensor problem, please help

The bad mass airflow diagnosis sounds correct, and the car does need to be trained(Setting Readiness). Driving will do this. However any reputable shop will set readiness when making this repair.
