Default low beams

just wondering if anyone has an opinion on what the difference is between the regular run of the mill d2s bulbs and the philips d2s bulbs are? other than a chunck of change. looking at replacing my low beams, and came accross a whole range of prices for them. gonna go 6000k. are the philips really that much better?

Let me clear a few things up. If you want to get 6000k bulbs you run the risk of getting ticket for illegal use of non DOT lighting. 6000K bulbs tend to be more blue/purple in color so it's very easy to spot people running aftermarket bulbs.

Anything over 4500k actually produce less visible light. So in all technicality you would be downgrading your lighting system. Yes the color is "pretty" but the fact of the matter you are putting less light on the road.

If you want more light do a little research about getting a 55watt HID system. But do try to stay with the stock color range of 4200 - 4500K.

If you must get new bulbs Phillip is one of the better brands to use.

i live in oregon, they really don't enforce headlight colors...
i've read about 55 watt systems, and it has been a consideration, but i've also read they can cause some serious glare from wet roads.
i'm just curious if buying the philips bulbs are worth the expense for lighting compaired to other brands?

where abouts in oregon are you, i am too and ive never had any issues with my lights, im running 6000k's from DDM tuning they are inexpensive and come with a lifetime warranty. i live on the coast where the state patrol has nothing better to do than pull people over but so far knock on wood i've been okay. heres a pic of mine, not to blue imo i think anything over 6000k is to blue/purple.

i live in central oregon, i've never heard of cops around here pulling people over for headlights... i would imagine they would pull me over for my windows first.

I'm running the 55watt DDM kit and I have no glare issues. And I live in raining Seattle area. Is something wrong with the bulbs you have now?

they seem dim to me. other cars will pass along side of me, and it seems their lights are brighter than mine. my parents have a newer audi, and it totally blows my lighting away. i think the bulb set in the car now is the factory set. with the 55 watt kit you bought, is it easy to install?

Super easy... I don't know if there is a DIY out there but you basically take the old HID out of each headlamp and replace it with the next kit. There is a little wiring required but it easy to do.

you could always put an hid kit in your fogs too, you might get people flashing their brights at you if you dont angle them down but it would help
