Default Lost a front axle and chunks of metal

So i was going down the road about to turn into starbucks and i heard a loud clunk noise like 3 times then i heard metal hit the road. I parked it looked at the CV boots and they were ripped... so i drove in the parking lot in first gear really slow to listen and another chunk of metal fell. It looked like a sorta fender cover for the axle where it comes out of the diff. It didnt make the noie anymore. So i babied it on the way home and as i was coming around a slight bend on the highway it clanked like 4 times the sparks on the road. I parked on the shoulder and looked and my driver side axle was off at the diff. I bought this car last week, and they said they put new front ones on and i saw they were new. SO i got it towed to the audi dealer since its under warranty. They are checking it out now. I have yet to hear whats wrong. But clearly the bolts that hold the axle onto the diff were off.

Turns out the dealer that i got it from when they put the new axles on they didnt tighten them correctly so they fell off. So we called and im getting new axles, new seals, new fog light housings, new seals in the rear because they are leaky, and also getting the timing belt, thermostat, etc ( 100,000k service you could call it) . SO i wont have it for a bit but atleast when it comes back i know it will be good and ready to go.

Knof audi is doing the axles, and european precision is doing the TB. I dont know yet though they have to see where those metal chunks came from... they were pretty big and if its from like the tranny case or diff that wont be good. it was leaking oil too so i dont know whats up ill find out tomorrow.

Knopf Audi? http://www.knopfauto.com/ ... Good to know they're taking care of it. Give'em props if they do it up right.

Ya.. could have been the re-enforcing ribs on the diff, but I would think it was the CV joint knuckles...

where the axle gets bolted up to diff is where they werent tightened. I lost chunks of metal and they said it was from the axles? It definetly didnt look like any part of the axles.
