Default k04 or rs6 stage 3

So i have desided to take the plunge and go to full stage three, now all i need to do is go k04 or rs6 turbos. I am kind of leaning more towards k04 cause there is alot more out there and way more support from what vast(going threw them) was telling me when i called. But i cant help but see all these new cars with hugh hp and want the 550 of a rs6 turbo kit. jsut wanted some input before i slapped down the check and turned my house into a parts store and pissed my wife off cause she cant park inside.

RS6 turbos would be great and I prolly have done more research on them than most. It also just so happens thatthe day I go into the philly AWE none other than Todd Sager the president of AWE was climbing out of their black avant in the lounge, I nearly tripped over the crap they have on the table to the right as you walk in. Long story short they lag until 4g's in rpm's, slightly constant heavythrottle would require internal upgrades over time, and he said don't buy them till AWE comes out with a kit, the guys a riot! lol That's my two cents. This should turn out to be a good post, lets hear it...

Dang that was one hell of a day for you to be there, just walking around. As for waiting till awe comes out with a kit unless that is in 2 months I dont want to wait longer then that. Also you say 4k on the tac till real power comes that is about what I thought, maybe i should also stroke the motor too???? would push more threw the turbos so may lower the spool up some. Of course with the k04 all i have to do is bolt ons and just replace my fuel with green tops and new pump(could also run new bigger steel braided lines to keep it colder). On a side note once i pull the engine i am replaceing all the valve springs.

This is my thought proscess: rs6 turbos are about $1300 more than k04's, your fueling will be more expensive, and IMO need to replace your rods for reliability/piece of mind. Get a custom tune too, for what you put in its worth it. Other than that everything else is going to be the same. If its worth $2500+ to YOU to get the extra 60-80 whp then go for it. (ASP got 465whp on pump IIRC)

Bottom line is its a good middle ground between k04 and GT kits. Iv been playing with the idea...

Where would you get your RS6's? ASP, JHM?

I know ASP offers the RS6 kit with the turbos already modified to fit the car. If you don't have them modified they DO NOT FIT! Just a heads up.

Ya JHM's design is a little better than ASP IMO. You just have to weld the new flange onto your downpipes

I am going threw vast which goes threw jhm so the custom fueling will not be a problem i have a tune threw vast right now and love it. yeah the 2100 extra for the 60-70 is worth the price to me i am jsut more worried about it being daily driver cause that is what i use my car for most of the time. Plus i am a big autocrosser so that lag would hurt also.

Oh yeah lag at auto cross, of course you could always drop it one gear lower than usual and the rev limiter should be tuned to no less than at least 7500 now. Heck I want you to get the rs6's, I'm just letting you know the facts. It will be almostjust as reliable for daily driving as stock or chipped as long as you do the rods and stuff like everyone said. Hp has a good point, it is great middle ground between gt's and ko4's.

I like this thread. Have you ever thought about hybrid k04's?

yeah that is the idea i am think to jsut get that little extra power but not to much more money. I was just talking to 10secS4(marc) about fueling and I like the ko4 idea little more cause of his fuel price. So hybrids are looking like a real option but also from what i see not really proven yet, kind of like the k03/k04 hybrid. I dont want to replace my turbos cause i was to cheap to get the full upgrade.
