Default Is it just turbo lag

so i'm starting to get accustomed to my s4 now, but there is one thing different from my 2.8 a6 and my 911, and that is rev matching, in the Porsche and the old Audi i could simply put my right foot on the right corner of the break while breaking and roll my foot sideways and rev it right to the rpm that i wanted making for a smooth downshift, but with my 2.7t s4 it seems like there isnt a whole lot of throttle response and that i need hold it a bit to rev it up, where as the other cars instantly shoot up in rpms, is this the lag from the turbos or is this not normal?

from what it sounds like you saying is te throttle response isnt what you think. It could be the fact that 911's flywheel is lighter then the s4 allowing it to rev a lot faste due to the rotational mass of it. The fact is that the turbos arent really going to have an effect on rev's because there is a less load on the motor and not much exhust gas to spin them. But its still hard for me to understand hat your trying to say. maybe a video of the tach through shifts could help.

it has nothing to do with turbos, they dont slow your motor down. Turbo lag is just having to wait for power.

I got an rs4 clutch and lightweight flywheel and i feel that the flywheel allows the motor to rev easier and quicker in both directions because theres less rotating mass to accelerate or slow down. A chip is also going to quicken throttle response, Also a lightweight pully kit like the ECS offers might help a little. I understand what you are saying, for me the flywheel completely changed that

Ill second the vid request, I never felt the need to rev match except to ease up on the syncros.

Haha if you have a stock flywheel just go start your car, depress the clutch, and rev it in your driveway. Its not the fastest reving motor in the world to say the least...then if you could compare it to a car with a FW less than half the weight of stock you would notice it is faster and more responsive, thus easier to rev-match downshifts. The rpm are always where i want them
