I'm 23, one accident and one ticket and I pay $27 a month. But my S4 is paid off and I only have standard coverage on it and it's listed as a weekend driver. I pay five times that for my Denali.

It is always cheap to insure another vehicle if you are the only one on the insurance. You can only be driving on of them at a time so it is not much more for the insurance company to worry about. I had my old car still when I got my S4 and it was around 35 a month to cover.

redleg6 Start out with a car thats simple to own/maintain/insure. It builds character, credit, and experience.
Amen to that.

While I'm new to the Audi ownership club, one reason that I took so long to join was that I didn't want the headache of trying to maintain it properly until I could afford it. Audis are built to discourage you from a lot ofDIY, and I think one of the key things I learned early on in ownership is that it's not just a pride issue in doing work - there's a real learning experience that will get you a lot more comfortable with just how you far you can push your vehicle. When I was driving a boat for a living and carrying a badge and a gun, a mechanic who I didn't like very much forced me to learn the boat in and out just like he did before I got qualified. Still didn't like him much, but he was right to do so as it made me a much better boat driver.

Sure, an S4 is a hell of a car, you can race it a bit,and it might evenget you a whole lot of women. But as long as you're not driving a Yugo or 85 Lebaron most won't care one way or the other - women like you spending money on them a lot more than they do on your car, and those who really want that kind ofcar are going to expect a lot - and if you're going to have a problem affordingmaintaining acar and insurance you'll be a lot better off with something you can do yourself without any help from the 'rents. Plenty of fast cars out there that are a lot cheaper to buy and maintain. Added bonus is you'll learn a heck of a lot too, and maybe learn how to save money so 10 years down the road you can laugh at the ones who just want you for your car when you've bought both the new 600 hp 70mpg RS4 and your new condo while they're waiting tables.

/end rant
