Hybrid Turbo Question

RE: Hybrid Turbo Question
Seems people are having better luck with the K04/RS6s..... still think plain jane K04's are more reliable and recently have been reaching close to 500whp (on certain dynos) with proper tuning.

RE: Hybrid Turbo Question
the hybrids are decent turbos though. however, you won't get nearly as much power with them as you would with the regular ko4's. it'd be better to just spend the extra cash and get the ko4s IMHO.

RE: Hybrid Turbo Question
Now I figured the opposite. Wouldn't a k16 compressor wheel be larger and make more power in comparison to a standard k04? These are listed as k04/k16 not the k03/k16 now this could be a misprint.... still not too sure on the kkk turbo specs.

RE: Hybrid Turbo Question
i say just stick with the ko4s. these come directly out of the european rs4 in the b5 model time. it's better to stick with what audi goes with. it's the most reliable, as reliable as audi can get.

RE: Hybrid Turbo Question
I was about to get the k04's until I started reading on the hybrids and the people getting 450-500 whp on pump gas. As the S4 is a project, not a daily driver I was looking to get as much power as possible out of the turbo upgrade, and upgrade fueling, downpipes, etc as cash flow permits.

RE: Hybrid Turbo Question
you're going have to do a lot more than just upgrade the turbos. no matter which turbo you choose. i mean there's the fueling kit and such. new intake. better intercooler, whether it be bigger dual or FMIC or even a mister to keep them cool. and then you'll need a bigger exhaust. to get the most power, customized straight piping is best. but this is just my honest opinion.

RE: Hybrid Turbo Question
pkblue.. pretty sure the k04/rs6 is the k04/k16.. but i could be wrong.. If you want reliability hybrid are not the way to go in my opinion.. go with straight k04.. i have yet to see advantages over them with hybrids in terms of power and the reliability is there with k04.
also, where are you finding that much power on pump gas without the gt kits. i mean the guy who runs low 11s is like 440 on race gas and that is with k04's. thats the highest ive seen wihtout now and non gt. ive seen a hybrid or two at the same amount of power but not higher..
you may be thinking youre seeing 450-500 at the crank not wheel.

Now this car has alot more work (cams, fueling, etc.) but the results are awesome and sorry it was on 100 octane the link that lead me there said "500 whp on pump gas within reach." Also there isn't a dyno chart up, but with the parts and shops involved in the build I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. My car already has rs4 fueling and inlets and a pair of ko4's on it.... actually just figured that out the other day. Would be a nice suprise if the driver side wasn't leaking oil everywhere.
