buy a b5 if you wanna eat m3's lol
AWE/VF are in the proscess of releasing a roots type supercharger for the 4.2, it might already be available i have no idea. Word is $11,000 installed and 500 crank HP with a full exhaust. Youd be faster than an E46 M3 with this, faster than an RS4, i guess maybe near an E92 M3, but all three of them would trounce you on a racetrack
https://www.audiforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=114583
As for the juice i know theres a couple out there that have it (not on audiforums though). The 4.2 has shown it can hold 500chp from the blower no problem so why not a 150 shot? Learn about nitrous and set it up, but youll likely get very little help from the forums and will most likely get flamed a bunch. Generally Audi enthusiasts arent NOS people....i know many loathe nitrous
I wish i could help more but i dont know much about the subject, wet vs dry, how, where, what else, etc. Good luck, if you persue the idea make sure to post results.
www.audiworld.com and www.audizine.com might have a little more discussion about it if you SEARCH

There are bolt on E46 supercharger kits (AA) and turbo kits (HPF) that give you WELL over 500HP, and probably has a better power/weight ratio than the s4. Drawback here is an M3 is still about $30,000 and the turbo kit ranges from $16,000 for stage 1 low power to $32,000 for stage 3 high power (HPF). Besided the price its also its RWD so pretty much a summer car only, has 2 doors opposed to 4, and you look like a dick driving it.
So no, a $5500 k04 kit on a $10,000 S4 wont beat a fully built turboed M3. Spend an equal ammount, say $60k on an S4 and a GT kit and NASA will probably buy it from you for the next mission to mars.
I dont like car comparisons.
Point being the B5 S4 is cheaper to buy and easier to make fast than the V8 s4. B6/B7 have newer looks, nicer interiors, and are more relyable thats why i reccomend them for people who dont really care about modding/racing/beating m3's
Having said that the supercharger is now out so you DO have a good way to add some power to the 4.2. Nitrous would be another cool way.

It would destroy it. Unless it were running a HPF kit or AA kit. But it would still beat it at the strip (1/4 mile).

run a wet system that sprays right before the throttle body and only activates at wide open throttle. use 2 heat ranges colder plugs and a smaller gap. you can easily run a 100 shot on that car. for more youd probably need a larger fuel pump, but i could be wrong. that supercharger is way overpriced. youd have less than 700 invested in a nitrous kit and youd be kickin major *** and it wouldnt be tearing your car up all the time. u only use nitrous everyonce in awhile so its not that bad as long as its setup properly. zex kits are easy and very safe. they adjust nitrous based on fuel pressure so you dont go to lean. cars that didnt come stock with boost get quite a strain when you start using forced induction. and everytime you drive it it get strained. yes a good tune can help but never the less forced inducton is harder on a motor than nitrous. ive had a kit on my lincoln ls for 5 years. my buddies and i run them on just about everything because your car seems totally stock but youve got 100 horse hidden inside. its fun to sneak up on people like that. and its easy to setup. screw peple that dont like it and think these cars are above that sort of thing. its just a car have fun with it. my friend has a 98 acura integra that is totally stock save for a 125 shot and a larger fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and a upgraded clutch. stock exhaust and everything. his car has touched the 12's and hasnt had a problem other than the clutch in 3 years and it has 130xxx miles.

dude... i'm doing my research!!!! I already found some info and I'm reading some performance books although I'm gonna get a little help that supercharger is way overpriced so it's not an option... buuuuut..... I'll consider selling my car and buying and S4 B5 if I found a good kit to install the gt28rs.. I used to have a A4 B5 with a k04 so I now the potential these cars have.. let me know were I can find these kits!!!! Thanks
A GT kit is $20,000 conservatively with very little else on the car (no brakes, suspension, ETC) and requires a built motor. A K04 kit for the B5 can be done relatively cheaply, say around $5000, on a stock motor. With all the supporting mods like clutch, intercoolers, exhaust, its pushing past $10,000 but you can get 400HP to the wheels (500 ish crank). Maintance costs on the B5 are also alot higher than the newer models, and if you go stage 3 it will expose every weakness in the car. Timing belt, sensors, controll arms, rebuild transmission all fall under the "because i should" category when you go stage 3
Theres alot of really cheap stage 3 s4's for sale too, you could sell the v8 and buy one of those.
