Default Going Stage 3

I have been scouring the internet day and night, trying to put together an idea of what type of stage III setup for my 2000 B5 S4 I want. I have been looking at the complete APR setup for about 7000 bucks, is there other modders out there with experience who could give me some tips on pricing and reliabilty. By the way I have perused this forum everywhere so I know whats on here.

I personally think that stage 3 is more reliable then stock. The engine itself is very strong and your eliminating all the problem areas on teh s4. What other tips you looking for? Congrats on going stage 3....its great.

well I was wondering, what kit people prefer, is there one that kicks the other ones butt so bad that it is the obvious choice, should I throw together an amalgamation of parts, or should I pick up the kit in seperate pieces to save money? What does this sort of thing cost? Are there any unforseen problems that may occur, or is there a website just for staging your Audi or what? Im just trying to make sure I have everything figured out before I do this. thanx.

Buy the parts seperately, and I can promise you'll save at least 1500 bucks. APR and AWE rip you off big time for Stage III kits. The EXACT same parts can be found from smaller companies for much less. Mostly the fuelling kit. APR will charge 2500 for one but Vast Performance will only charge you 1500 for the EXACT same kit.

ASP sale

Check this out for prices! Much nicer for a full STG III kits.

Since K04's have lower shaft speeds & are not running at 100% all the time like K03's they
should last a lot longer, and of course the engine is more then up to it.

Definately get parts and put it together, you can save alot I only have around $4000 into a stage 3 for my car. I went with the k03/k16 hybrids which did save me some cash on inlets but still would have been much cheaper than buying a whole kit.

So the hybrid is just when a K03 compressor and a K16 turbine are put together? Is the K16 turbine used on the K04 turbo?

piece the kit together, all these tuners are doing are putting together their variation of the rs4 kit and chipping it (i do know there is more to it than that.) APR is a very reputable company with top notch products, but they are way expensive but really worth it. i am working on my own variation and am definately undercutting those guys. The hardest part is getting the RS4 turbo's which stay on backorder, but i am looking into a garrett solution instead of rs4 turbos. in my opinion Garrett>Borg Warner.

There K03 Hybrids. IMHO, not a true STGIII as the turbo's hot side is no larger then stock, but they will make more power.

Most Hybrids are K04's with RS6 compressor side, it's much larger then the K04.

I'd call the k03/k16 hybrids as close to a stage 3 as it comes. Honestly I like them more than the straight k04's I had in. I'm sending the k04's out to jacob to be built into the k04/k24 hybrids for my next project and a lot more power. The power potential for the k03/k16 is almost the exact same as the k04's 480hp vs 500hp roughly. I do agree that the smaller hot side wheel is the problem with these and that's where the extra couple hp lay. However they do make a very cost effective option for a lot of people. I personally only went with them because I couldn't find a set of k04's in stock anywhere but I'm very happy with them.
