Front brakes will not stop rattling :(
After I had my brakes done at my Audi dealer (2006 S4) they were good for about two weeks and have rattled since (4 months now) and I had it back to the dealer like 4 times. First time they said the pads were "defective". That fix lasted about a week and back to rattling. Took it back in they said they could not hear it. Took it back 2 weeks later and made them ride with me and I made them hear it. Over any bumps it spuds terrible, rattles like crazy. They applied this red paste behind the pads and that worked for like a day. Still rattles like crazy. When I hit the brakes a little it's gone. No pressure it rattles over bumps. They said maybe the clips were loosened during the original brake job and I might need new clips. $150 installed! The original brake job was new pads and rotors for both fronts. What do you think? Should I go with the clips or could it be something else?
Thanks for any help.
G.
PS I'll be posting pics of my new tires and wheels at the end of the week. *

I would look at the bushings that allow the caliper to float side to side, #15, and make sure that the spring clip #4 is on each caliper. The clips apply downward pressure to the pads and should help stop that annoying squeal that some cars do, and I'd think keep the pads from making noise too.
That red paste is an antisqueal compound, like a silicone. I've used that, and an aerosol antibrake squeal product that was blue, those don't always work for brake squeal though. So that red stuff would only work temporarily as you know, and if something else is wrong it is no substitute for worn bushings or parts missing.
I would think the shop checked out both my suggestions first.
