Default FMIC question

There are so many different intercoolers out there for all sorts of different prices. There are two that sell on Ebay. One for $135 and the other for $799. Of course there are the others which are morepricey such asAWE etc... What do you guys recommend? Is it worth it to spend the extra money? Somebody said that people have used the APT intercooler with no adverse effects but how about the $135 one? I'm willing to pay more if the more expensive ones make a big difference but what is the difference and as anyone had any experience with them? The link to the cheap one is below.

I didn't look past the ebay link... it's an intercooler and that is it...

Sure you could save money, but your going to have to make the tubing yourself, as he says on there, "other S4 owners have made it work".

Do you have the equipement to mandrel bend and tig weld? I'm guessing you don't.

I suggest buying a proven kit froma companythat is going to sell you a complete package that most likely you could install yourself.

WOW, that's cheap. But I think there is little more to it. It's just a universal core. Fit is going to take a lot of work.

Then you need to fab all the pipes & get all the clamps & hoses. My bet is by the time you are done, you will surpass the "kits' out there.

if u can find the piping on a diffrent auction or if u know someone that can do the bending and welding it might be worth it but if u dont i would just get a all in one kit save u time and a huge headache

btw i really dont like that like "custom bumper" with the huge cut out for the fmic imo it makes it look ghetto i would rather have a nice clean look

Yeah. I guess I knew there was no way I could possibly put a $135 FMIC on my car. I just needed to know what the difference was.I'm thinking about getting the VAST piggies but is it worth it to spend the extra to get the ASP dp's?

You can purchase that FMIC kit on ebay for $135...it's a solid core. They also offer several piping kits, IIRC you want the 2" kit that way you don't have to get larger couplers to hook up to the inlets etc.

Or you can get a set of piping like http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149010

btw, most fmics are gonna require some hacking of the bumper and or supports. the ebay fmic will require you to trim your bumper support. other than that you are golden. the core is solid, there is a gt28 car running that exact fmic.
